Thanksgiving is a time for people to be thankful for what they have and is celebrated on the fourth Thursday in October traditionally with a turkey dinner. If you live in Sarasota there are many ways to celebrate this holiday. You can help feed the communities’ less fortunate with the Mayors’ Feed the Hungry Program and All Faiths Food Bank to fight hunger. They collect non-perishable food items and disburse to the community. There are many opportunities to counteract all that turkey and pumpkin pies with either 5k runs or Turkey Trots. You can support Autism with the Autism Jungle Run/Walk at Sarasota Jungle Gardens. Also, Fit2Run and Nathan Benderson Park have come together to provide a 5k Turkey Trot to help local families kick off their Thanksgiving at their world-class venue, or you can simply enjoy a beautiful morning run or walk over the Ringling Bridge sponsored by the Hyatt Regency Sarasota. You can follow up these activities with some delicious traditional dinners at many local restaurants. Wishing you a very Happy Thanksgiving!!
